Stars & Stripes meet stripped aircraft

Fly with Condor to Mallorca

Condor is probably the most famous leisure carrier out there, mainly because of their distinctive stripped corporate identity.

Even though the airline is headquartered in Germany, they serve multiple US cities with quick connections via their Hub in Frankfurt.

Condor just recently modernized their entire long haul fleet with brand new Airbus A330neo featuring the latest eco-friendly technology. This aircraft type will be operated from Q2 2024 to all long haul destinations across the US.

Cheaper alternative to United Airlines

Even though United is offering seasonal non-stop service from Newark to Palma de Mallorca starting at 1,130 USD return in Economy, Condor is the smart alternative at a lower price. Taking into account a short transit time in Frankfurt, Germany return flights with Condor can be as low as 870 USD in Economy.

Condor - The product

With the addition of the brand new Airbus A330neo, Condor is using its latest flagship already on almost every transatlatic route. Their old Boeing 767 aircraft will be retired in early 2024.

They operate a three class confirguration on their A330neo consisting of 30 seats in Business, 64 in Premium Economy and 216 in Economy Class. Especially their Premium Economy Class is interesting for travels seeking a bit more comfort on long haul flights but not willing to pay the amount for a Business class fare. However, all three classes use the latest technology including 4k video monitors with Bluetooth connectivity, so that own headphones can be used.

Economy Class

With a seat pitch of 30″, the Economy Class creates a generous sense of space. This is supported by hand luggage compartments that are 66 percent larger, 4-way adjustable headrests and 8.5° tilting backrests. In addition to a USB A/C connection and socket for each seat. You can listen to the latest generation of Inflight Entertainment on either on-board headphones or your own wireless headphones via the Bluetooth function and watch it on your 13.3“ in-seat 4K monitor.

Premium Economy Class

It gets even better: enjoy the increased legroom of Premium Economy Class with a seat pitch of 35″. Adjust your footrest and the six-way adjustable headrest, then lean back and relax at an angle of up to 12° in the backrest fitted with memory foam.

On board, you will be treated to a delicious Premium à la carte Menu (two meals on most long-haul flights) and a large selection of complimentary non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages. An Amenity Kit will also wait at your seat.

Business Class

Each seat provides direct access to the aisle and can be transformed into a 6ft 53in long bed at the touch of a button. Thanks to the design you can enjoy the flight undisturbed and in complete privacy.

Besides a well-stocked Amenity Kit you can find noise canceling headphones and high quality bedware including a plush matress topper at your seat. The latter one allows you to sleep like a baby.

Haute Cuisine at high altitude: Enjoy Gourmet Menus including a selection of three main courses to choose from.

Condor - Our Opinion

We have experienced Condor on their short haul fleet as well as long haul fleet a lot of times and can therefore evaluate their product very well – mostly in Premium Economy and Business Class.

Condor offers very good value for decent prices and especially their Premium Economy Class is priced at very attractive level. Sure, the seat is the same as in Economy, but the additional legroom makes the difference. Also, considering that Condor only charges around 150 – 200 USD extra for Premium Economy, it is definitely worth it if you want to enjoy your flight with extra space to stretch out.

With their new Business Class they have entered the market segment of Legacy Carriers and stepped up their game. The seat and overall cabin product is in our opinion even better than on some competing major carriers – keep in mind they are a leisure carrier. The configuration of the seats, depending on where you sit, really do provide a lot of privacy. Thanks to the good bedware incl. mattress topper and low noise level of the A330neo you can actually sleep very well on long flights. The food you get served on Condor is very extensive in terms of quantity, but of very good quality and features a wide selection.

All in all, we can just recommend Condor for your flight to Mallorca based on our personal experience. Their value for money is quite good and the product is very competive, if not even better than other (legacy) carriers.
